Event details - Musical evenings in Grimaud with Romain Bockler and the Ensemble concerto Soave
As part of the Musical evenings in Grimaud, Saint-Michel Church will be hosting an exceptional concert devoted to the French baroque music from the early XVIIIᵉ century. Entitled «Venite, exultemus», this programme features motets by André Campra and Nicolas Bernier, performed by baritone Romain Bockler accompanied by the Concerto Soave ensemble.
Founded over thirty years ago, Concerto Soave has established itself as one of the leading baroque ensembles on the international scene. Invited to perform at the world's leading festivals and regularly hailed by critics for its rich discography, the ensemble stands out for its poetic spirit, high musical standards and constantly renewed artistic curiosity. This approach is reflected in its latest recording, released by Ricercar in October 2025.
Conducted by Jean-Marc Aymes (organ, harpsichord), with Federica Basilico and Charlotte Gerbitz (violins), Flore Seube (viola da gamba) and Ulrik Larsen (theorbo), Concerto Soave explores the genre of the petit motet, where the Italian influence translates into a dramatic intensity rare in French sacred music. The deep, expressive voice of Romain Bockler, recently appointed co-artistic director of the ensemble, brings a particularly striking emotional dimension to this repertoire.
Supported by the DRAC Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Arsud and the Région Sud, this concert promises to be a highlight of Grimaud's cultural season, combining heritage, spirituality and musical excellence in the intimate setting of the historic church of Saint-Michel.
